IFFR Mission

The mission of the Institute of Finance and Financial Regulation (IFFR) is to be a leading global force in advancing finance and financial regulation through rigorous, high-impact research. As a respected scientific body, IFFR is dedicated to bridging the gap between cutting-edge academic research and real-world financial market practices, driving forward innovation and practical solutions. By conducting applied research in finance and law and exploring their critical intersections, IFFR seeks to address the pressing needs and challenges of the global financial sector, empowering organizations, policymakers, and professionals worldwide with scientifically grounded insights and strategies.

Bridging Academic Excellence and Industry in Finance and Financial Law

The Institute of Finance and Financial Regulation (IFFR, www.iffr.gr) is an International Research Center of Excellence, unique in Greece in the field of Finance and Financial Law. It operates under the auspices of the Department of Financial and Banking Administration at the University of Piraeus and stands as a top-tier institution for applied research in Finance and Financial Law, utilizing existing cutting-edge scientific research and creating new knowledge through the research of its internationally recognized Fellows. Its aim is to address practical questions and needs of organizations and businesses.

IFFR’s purpose is to connect academic knowledge with business and market sectors in areas like asset pricing, risk management, asset management, corporate governance, banking, banking law, ESG, climate finance, and capital markets law.

IFFR operates with excellence standards to achieve its goals by offering high-level services. It conducts high-level applied research, provides specialized training for executives, and offers consulting services based on the latest scientific developments. In addition, it organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences with internationally recognized guest speakers on current topics of interest to professionals. Although based in Greece, IFFR has an international orientation. To fulfill its purpose, it has already established a team of Academic & Professional Fellows, who are internationally renowned academics and professionals from top universities.

Members shall declare their graduation year upon joining, allowing their membership level to automatically adjust as they progress in their careers. This ensures that members continuously receive benefits suited to their professional development milestones. Membership Levels

Student Members: Current undergraduate, master’s, or Ph.D. students. This level provides access to public resources and events. It serves as a gateway for students to explore the domains of finance and financial regulation, equipping them with educational tools and professional connections.

Academic Members: Academics with teaching and research interests in Finance and Finance Law. They gain access to public resources and events, networking, training, research, and consulting opportunities. This membership level aims to help academics to enhance collaborations within the academic community and foster connections with the finance industry by collaborating on projects of mutual interest.

Professional Members: Professionals whose activities relate to the financial industry. They gain access to public resources and events, exclusive networking events, specialized training sessions, and enjoy discounts where applicable. This membership level offers robust support for career advancement and industry engagement, and it ensures professionals can stay at the forefront of developments in finance and finance regulation.

Senior Members: Seasoned professionals with leadership and/or C-class roles. They receive priority access to high-level events, insights, and collaborative project opportunities. This exclusive membership level connects decision-makers, fostering innovation and strategic growth. Additional benefits for these members exist to promote their organizations and enjoy further international visibility and interaction with world-renowned academics and professionals by sponsoring IFFR’s activities.

Code of Ethics

Members must adhere to the principles outlined in this Code of Ethics, promoting a culture of integrity, respect, and professionalism. Members are responsible for upholding the standards of IFFR, contributing positively to the community, and acting as ambassadors for the field of finance and financial regulation.

Code Violations and Disciplinary Action

IFFR reserves the right to review and take action on any violations of this Code of Ethics. Actions may range from warnings to suspension or termination of membership, depending on the severity of the violation.
