IFFR History

Founded in 2018

The Institute of Finance and Financial Regulation (IFFR) was founded in July 2018 (Greek Official Government Gazette Β’ 2741/10.07.2018) under the auspices of the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus, Attica, Greece. IFFR will be located in Greece, yet its orientation will be international.

The Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus is the oldest university department in Finance in Greece and has awarded honorary doctorates to Professor George Constantinides (University of Chicago) Professor Stephen Ross (MIT), Mr Panagiotis Laskaridis and Mr Theodoros Papalexopoulos. The departmental staff has published in leading journals in economics and finance such as American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, and Journal of Business.
