From the Directors

The co-Director Associate Professor Panagiotis Staikouras and myself, would like to welcome you to the website of the newly founded Institute of Finance and Financial Regulation (IFFR).  IFFR is an international research centre of excellence located in Hellas (Greece) whose mission is to bridge the gap between academia and the industry in the fields of asset management, asset pricing, risk management, banking and financial regulation.

Our motto Access – Connect – Share reflects our “thinking forward” philosophy and vision.  Any advancements in knowledge generated by academic research in the fields addressed by IFFR should be at the service of the finance community and should be used to fulfil its needs. IFFR accesses new developments in applied academic research in the above stated fields in Finance and Financial Regulation, connects academia with the industry and shares these developments.

To accomplish our vision, IFFR structures its activities along four dimensions: it conducts high quality applied research, organises events on timely topics, it provides executive training both on a publicly announced as well as on a bespoke in-house basis, and it delivers project-based consulting services.

We are proud of working with our high quality Fellows who are internationally renowned academics and professionals from leading universities and financial institutions across the globe.  Currently, our team comprises twenty-six Fellows with the vast majority residing abroad. Their expertise covers a wide range of areas in finance and financial regulation and their work has an impact on the functioning of financial markets, and shapes regulation and economic policy. We are also open to ideas on collaboration with other academic, corporate and governmental entities.  Funding from the international and local public and private sector is pursuit and it will be gratefully acknowledged.

Our ethos of excellence and cooperation make IFFR open to your ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement and collaborations. Success is never a “one-man show” but it comes from cooperation and interaction between people.  We invite you to explore our website and we are looking forward to receiving your thoughts and suggestions.

Professor George Skiadopoulos, Director of IFFR
