Dr Nikolaos Gkonis, Head of ESG, Prodea Investments

Nikos is the Head of ESG Department at PRODEA Investments group which is the largest REIC in Greece. His responsibilities cover all the ESG reporting obligations of the group including the sustainable financing part, the development of the sustainability strategy of the group as well as the business development of new energy and sustainability services around PRODEA’s assets. Nikos is also member of the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) Sustainability Council, co-chair of the Greek Sustainability Council of ULI and former founding member of the Sustainable Building Council of Greece. Before joining PRODEA in early 2019, Nikos held the position of Senior Energy Efficiency expert at GIZ GmbH, providing technical assistance in the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy, demonstrating deep experience in policy making and energy strategy at national level with involvement in the drafting of several legislative acts and national action plans (NECP, NEAP etc.) He has also been an active member of different National and European Commission’s working groups and committees. Nikos holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from NTUA and a PhD in Energy Efficiency Policies from the Energy Policy Unit of NTUA.
