Dr Nikolaos Gkonis, Head of ESG, Prodea Investments

Dr. Nikos Gkonis is Head of ESG at PRODEA Investments, the leading real estate investment company in the region with assets of ca. € 2.9 bn in Greece, Italy, Cyprus and SEE. He demonstrates long standing experience in energy, sustainability and ESG issues with proven track record both in technical and policy projects. Before joining PRODEA in early 2019, Nikos held the position of senior energy efficiency expert in GIZ GmbH, providing technical assistance in the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN). He has been deeply involved in the design and drafting of several National reports and legislative acts such as the 1st National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) and the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan. He has also been actively involved in the formation of several frameworks, action plans and initiatives in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability as a member of National and European Commission’s working groups and committees. Nikos holds two diplomas, one in Mechanical Engineering from NTUA and one in Production and Management Engineering from DUTH as well as a PhD in Energy Efficiency Policies from Energy Policy Unit of NTUA.
