Elisabeth Bourqui, CEO, Co-Founder, BERG Capital Management

Dr. Bourqui is the Founding Partner and CEO of BERG Capital Management, an asset owner-driven investment management company specializing in governance for investments and total fund portfolio management.

Dr. Bourqui was until 2019 the Chief Operating Investment Officer (COIO) at CalPERS. Prior to CalPERS, Dr. Bourqui served as Head of Pension Assets and Liabilities at ABB Group. ABB Pension Management operates over more than 50 countries and manages more than 20 billion assets.

Prior to ABB, Dr. Bourqui was a Principal at Mercer’s Investment Consulting team in Canada, heading a team specialized in consulting large public funds and sovereign wealth funds. Before that she worked over 12 years in Investment Banking for Société Générale in New York and Canada, heading the derivatives solutions business for Canadian institutional clients and at Credit Suisse Grop in Zurich and London in risk management.

Dr. Bourqui serves as an independent non-executive Director on the Supervisory Board of the Bank Vontobel since 2015 as well as on the board of the Cantonal Bank of Neuchatel, a 100 % state-owned bank in Switzerland, since 2021. Dr. Bourqui serves as a Chairman of the Helsana Health Invest Fund. She serves as a Board member on the Foundation Louis Jeantet and chairs its Investment Committee as well as the Greenbrix Investment Foundation. She also serves as independent non-executive Director on Athora Netherlands, a Dutch insurance company with brands Zwitserleven and Reaal. She chairs the risk and investment oversight committee at Athora Netherlands.

Dr. Bourqui holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics as well as a Ph.D. in mathematics and financial mathematics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETHZ Zurich, Switzerland. She is a member of the Swiss Society of Actuaries. Dr. Bourqui lives in Geneva, Switzerland. She was nominated in the last 50 finalists of the 2009 European Space Agency Astronaut Program. She enjoyed tremendously the team and quality work among learning astronauts.
