Dr David McCarthy, Assistant Professor, University of Georgia, US
Since Dr David McCarthy obtained his PhD from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he has worked at the University of Oxford, Imperial College, the University of the Witwatersrand, and the University of Georgia. His academic research has focused on various aspects of pension funds, including occupational pension design, pension insurance, and pension investments.
More recently, he has studied mortality modelling and inter-generational transfers within economies. He has also consulted on pension policy for various governments, including the UK and most recently, South Africa, where he was deeply involved in providing policy advice on areas as diverse as the taxation of retirement fund contributions and benefits, state pension design, occupational pensions for state employees, and retirement fund regulation (including investments).
